Evaporator Drain Line Freeze-Up

Condensate can't drain because the drain line or pan freezes, so water backs up, re-freezes on the coil, and overflows or ices the case floor.

Symptoms
  • Water or ice pooling in the bottom of a case or walk-in
  • Ice building at the drain pan / P-trap rather than (or as well as) the coil
  • Drain pan heater or drain-line heater not warm
  • Recurring icing that returns right after a manual defrost
